Liam McKenna Contract Extension

Tuesday, February 9, 2016 - 10:44 AM

The Perth Football Club is proud to announce that Liam McKenna has signed a contract extension keeping him with the Demons for another two seasons. The midfielder had a stellar 2015 season after crossing over from Peel Thunder in a trade last year. The 23 year old played 19 games, amassing 523 possessions and finished runner up to Aidan Tropiano in the Butcher Medal. After playing 18 games over four seasons for Peel, McKenna was rejuvenated upon his arrival at Lathlain Park and formed a strong midfield bond with Sandover Medallist Tropiano and captain Dene White. His success garnered interest from AFL clubs in the lead up last year’s national draft. Demons Football Operations Manager Tyson Beattie says McKenna has been a critical signing for the club. “Liam has had a tremendous preseason, he has become stronger and faster and is well set for a big year,” Beattie says. “Liam is an extremely gifted footballer but he is also an outstanding person and a great example to anyone striving to improve their football.” McKenna will play in Perth’s first preseason match against West Perth on March 5th at Arena Joondalup.
