Demons Welcome Kristian Cary
The Perth Demons have acquired talented interstate midfielder Kristian Cary from North Albury.
The 20 year old is considered one of the most naturally gifted and skilful players in the Ovens and Murray Football League, a competition which features 10 clubs across both Victoria and New South Wales.
Coached by the legendary Brownlow Medallist Jason Akermanis, Cary led the Hoopers goal kicking last season with 34 majors, predominantly playing on a wing and moving through half forward. He originally played for the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup and went onto represent New South Wales/ACT in the 2013 National Under 18 Championships. In that competition he played every game and was on the radar of getting drafted. In the two seasons since, he has led the Hoopers into the finals of the Ovens and Murray Football League. Akermanis, while disappointed to lose his young gun is supportive of Cary’s move west. "They really do train them pretty hard and they come back with a good work ethic.”Akermanis says. "We’ve had a few boys go to WA before and they always come back better players.” Cary is also looking forward to reuniting with his girlfriend who’s family is setting up a local business in Kewdale.
Football Operations Manager Tyson Beattie says Cary will fit in well with the team. “He is a country boy at heart but you can tell he is a competitor, tough, skillfull, he will slot in well to our squad.” Cary will finish his apprenticeship in Albury and move over to Perth in the New Year.
