Eastern Conference Best And Fairest
On Tuesday the 19th of August clubs from the Eastern Conference (Yr 11-12s from the Perth, Swan Districts and East Perth Districts) descended on the Lathlain Park Function Centre to celebrate all the hard efforts over the 2014 season. Over 150 guests including the top 10 vote getters (up to round 10), family and club officials were in attendance.
It was a star studded event with guests including Perth CEO Marty Atkins, Division Legends Brian Cook (Perth FC Premiership Player 76-77) and Tony Notte (Current Swan District and Former WCE Player) on hand to present the awards for their respective divisions.
The night kicked off with a buffet dinner before The MC for the night, Perth District Manager Scott Faulkner, began proceedings. The three Competition Directors of each district Neil Darby (Filling in for Ross Leopold) Trevor Gosetti (Swans) and Angelo Barbaro (East Perth) began running through the last 5 rounds of votes. Two of the three divisions had extremely tight races with Maddington’s Arnold Punch romping home in the Brian Cook Division.
Scott Conducted interviews with Both Tony and Brian before they presented the respective trophies. In a great night for the Demons District, our own high school trainee Brett Woods (Kenwick) took out the Yr 12 Ryan Turnbull Division overall winner. We managed two overall winners with a dominant display by Arnold Punch in the Brain Cook Division , who’s runner up was Victoria Park JFC's Issac Gillet. Jesse Maile from Belmont took home the door prize of the night, kindly donated by Burley/Sekem of a selection of 10 footys.
It was a hugely successful night, enjoyed by all. The Perth District would like to thank all clubs for strongly supporting the inaugural eastern conference season. A big congratulations to our winners – Arnold Punch (Maddington), Brett Woods (Kenwick) and runner up Isaac Gillet (Vic Park). We wish all clubs and players still involved in finals the best of luck over the coming weeks!
